JIS G3116 SG295 Hot Rolled Steel for Gas Cylinders & Pressure Vessels

SG295 is Japanese standard hot rolled coil and plate under JIS G3116, dedicated to welded LPG cylinders, small pressure vessels and gas storage components. “SG” represents gas cylinder steel, with minimum yield strength 295 MPa, higher strength level than conventional SG255 for lightweight gas container design.

Its chemical composition limits carbon ≤0.20%, manganese ≤1.00%, with controlled P and S to prevent cracking during stamping and welding. Standard mechanical indicators include minimum tensile strength 440 MPa and elongation ≥26%, showing excellent plastic deformation capacity for cylinder head deep drawing without surface crack defects.

This grade is extensively used for LPG tank cylinders, small spherical gas tanks, pipeline separators and petrochemical low-pressure buffer vessels. It complies with Asian gas equipment manufacturing standards, favored by buyers in Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Middle Eastern gas suppliers.
